We are going to have our very own, characteristic place in Deventer! About eighteen months ago, we had one year left on the lease we had. This was due to expire in October 2021. And even before the corona period, we had decided that working, and with that also the demands we make on a workplace, should take on a completely different dimension. A workplace as a place where you feel at home. But we were also already playing with the idea that people would want to work more from home. And when, in March 2020, we all worked from home overnight, we cut the knot.
We went looking for a characteristic building. A real Parantion building. Not a boring office, but a place where you like to come and that facilitates your work optimally. A kind of ‘software studio’.
And that is what it has become. We took over two artists’ studios. A very characteristic building in the hip harbour district of Deventer. It was originally a machine factory and dates from around 1920. The final transfer took place in May 2022 and from that moment on things have been moving fast. And that is necessary, because in order to make this beautiful but outdated accommodation more sustainable and to renovate it while retaining its characteristic features, we still need more than half a year. So: we are moving! But it will take some time. We hope to be able to plan the move by the end of October. The address? Mr. de Boerlaan 153 in Deventer.
And if you wonder what that ‘hump’ on the roof is? That is Lucy Galaxy. The smallest hotel in the Netherlands. One room. The previous owners designed and built it themselves. And now it’s ours. We don’t know exactly what we’re going to do with it yet, but we’re sure to find a great use for it.
So keep an eye on your mailbox. At the end of this year or the beginning of next, you might find an invitation on your digital mat for an opening party.
